The Story of Garuda

The Story of Garuda

With a new collection of earrings just landed, I have the fun activity of naming new pieces.

With colours and shapes something creative always comes to mind! A little bit of spiritual channeling gives each design its depth and meaning.

I often surprise myself finding the products align so much with their names!

One that really stood out for me recently was the Thunderbird and Garuda story - with an ongoing interest in Eastern mysticism , discovering this story was really interesting!

Thunderbird is the name of the bird in Native American tribe culture - the bird that protects the over world - he can be seen in totems sitting on top of Amaru - the sea dragon of the underworld.

This story of an Eagle as the bird protector can be also be found in Hindu cultures across Asia - depicted as the Vahana (vehicle) of Vishnu.

In Indonesia, predominately in Java and Bali, Garuda is the national emblem - symbolising freedom, courage, strength and loyalty.

A cultural icon, the GWK is tallest statue in Indonesia and the nations airline Garuda Air are both represented by this magnificent bird!
